#74 closed Bug (duplicate)

LibGmpWrapper.dll/Primes failing to load on x64 OS

Reported by: m.m.egger@… Owned by: Timo Eckhardt
Priority: Important Milestone:
Component: Primes Plugin Keywords: x64, corflags, LibGmpWrapper.dll

Hi there,

LibGmpWrapper.dll has the x86 flag set (see corflags.exe). Therefore when running CrypWin.exe natively on x64 OS (Win7 x64 in this case), Primes and LibGmpWrapper.dll fail to load.

Simply setting LibGmpWrapper to agnostic (/32bit-) does not work, maybe because of the nature of its code.

The only working current workaround is to manipulate CrypWin.exe itself. Setting CrypWin.exe to x86 (/32bit+), forces the whole application to x86 mode and everything loads fine.

This is, however, a nuisance due to two facts:

  • .NET > 2.x is expected to be platform-agnostic, one of its great strengths
  • especially encryption and decryption routines would benefit from x64 architecture so it would be nonsense to "degrade" CrypTool 2 to x86 mode.
